Este año estuvo muy cargado con trabajo, proyectos y noticias. Hemos tenido una baja en términos económicos de la industria de moda local y aún así hemos visto a muchos diseñadores nacionales salir adelante con más ideas y un plan de seguir subiendo sus estándares de calidad y talento. Este año también, recibimos la terrible noticia que la diseñadora panameña de joyería Melina Typaldos culminó su estadía en el mundo físico y tal como hemos leído en muchos medios, ahora está diseñándole a los ángeles.
Melina Typaldos era hermosa, joven, talentosa y por muchos años le aportó status al mundo de la moda con sus diseños de joyería. En los tres años que llevamos asistiendo a Fashion Week, pudimos apreciar sus colecciones así como Thérèse tuvo la oportunidad de trabajar con ella y realmente conocer en persona su carácter humano y cariñoso.
Llegado el MBFWP15 era imposible dejar de mencionarla y más que hacerle una mención especial, recibimos algo de parte de la diseñadora de modas Michelle Nassar, una de sus amigas cercanas: una colección tributo a Melina Typaldos. La colección, que había sido hablada ya por ambas desde antes de la partida de Melina, lleva como título BLOOM y va de flores y estampados preciosos. Los diseños fueron acompañados por las joyas de Melina las cuales se seguirán vendiendo, gracias al apoyo de toda la familia Typaldos, en diferentes tiendas.

This year was filled with loads of work, projects and news. We've had a significant low season for the local fashion business due to the economy and still we've seen how local designers have managed to get through this season with even better designs and quality standards. This year also, we received the terrible news that the Panamanian jewelry designer Melina Typaldos passed away and just as we've read in all media, she's now in heaven designing for all the angels.
Melina Typaldos was beautiful, young, talented and we believe that the national design scene has a good status because of top quality designers like her. In all three years that we've attended Fashion Week, we had the opportunity to see her collections and even Thérèse had the chance to work with her and get to know up close her human and loving character.
So naturally when the MBFWP15 came, it was impossible to not mention her and more than doing a special mention, the fashion designer Michelle Nassar -which was close friends with Melina- did an an even more special thing: a tribute collection to Melina Typaldos. The collection, which was already in plans of making as a collab work between them, was named BLOOM and it was all about flowers and beautiful prints. The designs were presented alongside Melina's jewelry designs, designs that the family will continue to sell to keep the MT brand legacy.
