GALA VERDE | Backstage

La Gala Verde fue sin duda, una gran experiencia para nosotras. Estuvimos backstage y pudimos disfrutar del evento y tomar fotos de las presentaciones en tarima. Disfrutamos de la música de Yomira John, La Tribu, Cienfue, Carlos Méndez, Los Rabanes; pudimos ver toda la puesta de la colección ECOVINTAGE by Jaime Luna y el trabajo increíble del diseñador de joyería Víctor Flores.

The 'Gala Verde' event was without a doubt a great experience for us! We were backstage and we enjoyed the musical presentations of talented artists like Yomira John and Carlos Mendez and awesome bands like La Tribu, Cienfue and Los Rabanes. We saw the entire realization of Jaime Luna's ECOVINTAGE collection and the amazing work of jewelry designer Victor Flores (who collaborated with Jaime Luna to showcase his pieces as well).

Sculpted by the waves jewelry

"El 'vidrio marino' es un tesoro al que le tomó décadas o siglos en convertirse en una 'gema'. Originalmente eran botellas o vajilla tirados como basura o arrojados negligentemente al mar por los millares de barcos que esperan su turno para cruzar el casi centenario Canal de Panamá. Las olas y la arena después de esculpirlos los arrojan a las playas cercanas. Estas joyas están hechas a mano en plata 925, 14kgf, cuero o en madera hundida por 100 años en el Canal de Panamá."

Estas fueron parte de las enseñanzas que nos dejó el Sr. Victor en backstage mientras nos mostraba cada pieza y nos contaba su historia. Fue fascinante saber esa atención al detalle que hace que los diseños tengan relevancia no solo a nivel estético pero sentimental.

"Sea glass is a timeless treasure. The journey a piece takes may have begun decades or centuries ago. Bottles were thrown out as trash, carelessly dumped overboard from one of thousands of vessels waiting to cross the Panama Canal. After being sculpted by the waves this gems are found at the canal shore beachesthat I hand crafted in Sterling Silver, 14kgf, leather or in 100 years sunk wood in the Panama Canal."

This was part of the story behind all the pieces of Mr. Victor. He patiently showed us some of his sea jewelry while he was teaching us how he crafted the design. It was just fascinating to realize how a design has not only visual and esthetic relevance but also sentimental value.
